Mr. Bean fan here! And a Mini Cooper collector too... So why not do my own Bean's Mini or Mini Bean or... never mind LOL
I purchased a Burago - my first by this brand, 1:43 Mini Cooper on Sunday. Though this is not my brand of collection and scale (but I do have another 1:43 scale by Cararama - a Yaris), I've decided to give this one an exemption (again).
Why Burago?
Because.... they have 1:43 Mini Cooper that's still in the market and not the 2011 version. I think this one is called the Morris Mini if I'm not mistaken...
That's odd... so why were you looking for 1:43 if you're not a 1:43 scale collector?
That is another thing.. you'll find out.... next time... if I got lucky on this project :)
Work in progress
The first step I did was sanding. If you noticed, I don't do sanding when I customize a 1:64 casting. This is because I want to preserve the details so I just strip the paint off then coat it with primer. But since this is a larger scale, I opted to just sand it then apply the paint I want (didn't use primer).
One of the DCPH members mentioned in a thread that it is better (if it is new or the paint's still good) not to strip the paint because their factory paints has better quality than those that we use. Stripping is advisable when the paint has already deteriorated or has damage.
Okay. That's all for now. Will keep you posted ;)

Mod #3 Weathered Effect Part 2
Part 1
At last my weathered effect is now in progress!
I found a new trick for weathering effect but maybe not new to you :)
Because I was hesitant to buy an enamel paint just for this project, I tried to be resourceful =) I used what is already available in my tools which is my red primer paint.
Surprisingly, looks like it worked! :D
Here's what I did:
After the painting with red primer in part 1, I coated it with white gloss paint then did some sanding to remove some white paint to reveal the primer red.
I sprayed some lacquer paint in a small container.. or in this case, bottle cap :D
Then applied it by using cotton buds. This is like dry painting.
Also for a better effect, wait for the lacquer paint to dry a little before applying it.
The result:
Thanks for looking! ;)

SD Wing Gundam XXXG - 01W
[Meep Meep Meep...]
|
.... I feel the energy... I feel so strong! harrrrrrrr!
Gahhh... I should do some warm up before going to battle! The enemy might be powerful..
by the way, where are my weapons...
Aha! here's my super ultimate weapon... now I can save the world from those ugly monsters!
but don't you think it's way too heavy?
hmmm....
never mind... this is my super ultimate weapon that will kill the bad guys. this is nothing to me.. I'm super strong! grrr!
strike a pose first
I think it's cooler if I hide my super ultimate weapon first. I'll reveal it at the finale when I'm about to kill the enemy just like Voltes V's laser sword.
strike a pose first. this will be battle pose.
or this one....
I feel I'm missing something... what could it be?
My wings! of course I'm the Wing Gundam!
toothbrush, extra pants, energy drink, body soap...
all set.. now let's move to battle!
weeeeeeeee! I'm flying!! of course, I am the Wing Gundam and I am super strong! rawr!
I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky....
I'm like a bird, I'll only fly away...
I don't know where my soul is, I don't know where my home is...
I'm like a bird, I'll only fly away...
I don't know where my soul is , I don't know where my home is...
The
Wing Gundam flew in the sky. Some said it was flying while singing
until it reached the outer space without noticing it. Some said it has
found a strong monster and still fighting until now....
Who knows what really happened after that last picture.
[END]
P.S.
That blue piece kept on falling while I was taking pictures! it annoys me..
