I just want to share my two favorite 4x4's by Tomica
A Wrangler and an old Land Cruiser ;-)
Tomica is one of the best in giving a very detailed look for a 1:64 diecast model. No wonder that their price is higher than the other brands..
This is the first time I saw that Jeep logo on the bumper. I didn't notice that before.
That extra wheel is my favorite part of this Wrangler. I really want to have a 1:1 Jeep Wrangler! *drool*
And this one is everyone's favorite LOL. 'coz man, this casting of Tomica is a very expensive line of collection! You can almost buy a lot of regular Hotwheels for just a piece... well those are exclusives not like this that I have. This LC is from 40th anniversary and I just got it for 300 bucks. At least I have one. I doubt if I'd be able to buy more LOL.
I love that Toyota logo on both sides..
But I also want it yellow like my Wrangler. I'm planning to repaint it so I won't be tempted to purchase a yellow version (I will if someone sells it for 80% off or lowered it to 300 bucks ..lol)
and these are my favorite 4x4's. I hope you like them too :)
Tomica is a brand i have never seen in person (indeed, they’re not available in my country except if you order them)... i like the nice details in these diecast and i love jeeps as you do, but they’re kinda too expensive for my taste (probably for their origin) and they don’t offer as good detail as the Johnny Lightning diecast which i prefer by far (and it’s curious, because there are some "joint ventures" between JL and Tomica)... oh, and i used to think that Hot Wheels was a synonym for cheap, but i stopped thinking that crazy way after i saw some limited collector’s editions (scale 1:64) which raise their price above US$15 each one or even more... HEHEHE =)
ReplyDeletehmmmm...... errrrr.... I can't pick between tomica and JL !! LOL
ReplyDeleteokay I'll give some info that I know about these 2 brands just for comparison.
#1 tomica mostly asian model cars while JL seems to be more on american cars. and I can't really compare 'coz the only JL model I have as of now is Cobra.
#2 I dont want to be biased because I like both brands but there are rumors that JL paints are not as good as other brands' paint. - some gets bubbles on paint due to being inside the blister for a long time though I haven't experienced that yet. AND I don't want to! hahaha (well this is a problem for us carded collectors)
#3 I do like tomica because of some cars (esp SUV types) has suspension. I like that bouncy effect LOL! and also, some tomica has opening doors like my Land cruiser up there.
#4 well, as we all know, tomica cars (mostly) are in boxes.... and that gives JL a point 'cos of my favorite cards! HAHAHA!
#5 I don't know why but some tomica models do not loose their values as much as other brands. and seems it is increasing as time goes by. well for certain models (that's why I'm holding on these two. but no plans of selling them haha)
for the hotwheels limited collector's ed. well, you have to pay for the packaging and also for the title of "limited collector's edition" haha
Cheers!
is always interesting to talk with someone that knows what’s it all about, like you pal =)... and of course, i have some thoughts on your comments...
ReplyDeletecertainly JL is specialized in american cars (as Tomica in asian cars) which is pretty understandable by their respective origins and because the license fees makes a bit restrictive to create foreign models, as we know... but JL has a few asian models and fortunately i managed to get one of them (which is already published in my blog) a Toyota 2000 GT...
i think that the paint issues on JL diecast are just that... rumors... in my experience (or first bloggy experience HAHAHAHAHAHA) the paint job in JL diecast is just great and careful, they have a detailed pad printing job as well, that is one of the best i have seen in this scale... however, as years go by, everything deteriorates and that’s unavoidable...
JLs have no suspension but i don’t miss that feature and prefer a better detail, rubber tires with nice and different wheels and openable hoods... the openable doors and suspension remind me the 80’s and 90’s diecast by Majorette (a french brand which i love...)
yeah, i love blisters too LOL... and JL diecast have some great souvenirs like collector’s cards, medals (with magnets), poker cards and chips, etc., which Tomica don’t have, so that’s an extra point for JLs...
diecast and almost every collection figure becomes more valuable as time goes by (even with some fluctuations) and that happens with almost any reputed brand in the market...
last but not least, in the limited collector’s diecast by HW (and other brands) you pay as well for: a limited amount of pieces worldwide, exclusive (and better) paint jobs, color schemes and decorations, rubber tires and exclusive wheels designs, new or improved casts and in some cases, these models are only available for subscribers and/or online buyers...
very well said. hahaha. for the paint issue, I guess you're right. they'll still deteriorate even you loose them or keep them in blisters - the saddest part.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing info and also for being active in posting comments here :)
