One Piece Roronoa Zoro (New World)

One Piece Roronoa Zoro figure by Bandai.

This is the New World Zoro.

The figure stands approximately 5 inches tall.

The "three swords" are inseparable.

Roronoa Zoro is the hot headed swordsman and vice captain of the Straw Hat Pirates.

360-degree view of the box:

The figure:

There should be a good reason why they decided to put that mark on Zoro's eyes!

The only thing that I don't like with this kind of figure is it can't do many poses. I'd be happier if they add some articulation on.

That's all for now. I've been very busy lately. I'll try to make it again next week! Thanks for your support :)

Carroll Hall Shelby

Another race finished.

It's just now that the news reached me. Four days ago, An American legend, automotive designer, race car driver and the father of Shelby Cobra passed away at age 89.

He has become my favorite racer driver since I started collecting one of his great works, the Shelby Cobra 427.

A tribute to my favorite race car driver.

May you rest in peace God speed, Mr. Shelby.

National Geographic Megafactories LEGO

One word: AMAZING!!!!!

After I posted my previous entry about Mega Bloks vs. Lego, I searched for news and articles about Lego just to learn why they still have that design after so many years, also out of sheer curiosity.

I remembered that there was a thread before in our forum discussing about the National Geographic documentary on the history of Lego, so I tried looking for that video on Youtube.

Luckily, the video is available and I think this is worth sharing to you guys as LEGO's become part of our childhood for most of us.

Watching this factory works makes me dream to be a part of this company too. This is a wonderland for those avid fans! That includes me as always, though my Lego bricks are not with me anymore... How I wish I took care of them :( I hope they're in good hands now.

It's just nice to see how the company became a success after all those years with the ups and downs they encountered and how they survived the changing world of technology when kids prefer to play with their computers! - Oh I haven't mentioned here that I am very saddened by what this technology has done to our children now. Some kids nowadays don't even know what Snakes and Ladders is!

I am very amazed (I am sure you are amazed too) on how each brick is created and how accurate it should be.. and not to mention those big robotic machines! ....and did I hear saliva test?

Oh.. and btw, I shouldn't compare Mega Bloks with LEGO. I just realized that they have different styles and LEGO is happy with what they have and I guess they will be sticking to it :D

I hope you enjoyed watching as much as I do. We have more things to discover :D

'til next time :)

Mega Bloks Jack Sparrow

The first thing that comes to my mind whenever I see or hear about Mega Bloks is these are toys for kids. Or comparing it with Lego, it is a Duplo (although they have also released their Micro Action Figures which composed of Marvel figures, Halo, etc.). I just thought they wanted to create something for the older consumers and trying to compete with Lego's Minifigures.I am just not sure which of them came first.

But, this idea of mine vanished when I got my very first toy from Mega Bloks. I felt like my bet has lost the battle (Lego) against Mega Bloks.

My recently acquired Pirates of the Caribbean by Mega Bloks.

This skull is the case.

Introducing Jack Sparrow, "The worst pirate ever".

The set contains 3 weapons (2 swords and a gun) and a shovel.

And some extras like those two birds and that skull of a buffalo. I think some items are already missing as this is not brand new when I got it.

The ground/island is the back part of the pirate's skull.

To my surprise, the figure has actually 11 points of articulation: neck, shoulders, elbows, wrist, hips and knees, and can do a half split. This gives all the points to Mega Bloks as compared with Lego's Minifigures which only has 7 and with all that details! Lego figures look like a block - they should be the Mega Bloks here. My thinking before is the opposite. I should've thought of Lego as the kids' toys - well, it is my childhood toy.

But what I like about Lego's figures is, even if it does look like a block, the material used for the figures and the bricks is the same. But for Mega Bloks the figure feels like rubber - that type of plastic used for... most of action figures.

But still, I won't turn my back on Lego as it is part of my childhood, my loyalty to them will not wane even though they're becoming so pricey nowadays. The quality of Lego is undeniable that even through time,  those I played with still works - I mean still stick together with the other bricks or even with the new ones - really fascinating.

Because of this toy, I found myself one day watching the four Pirates of the Caribbean movies. And because I got myself hooked, I'm going to look for a Mega Bloks Davy Jones, Will Turner and my favorite character, Captain Hector Bolbossa - he's a very funny character and sometimes annoying.

Oh btw, I forgot to mention what made me buy a Mega Bloks which isn't in my list. If I am just in a toy hunt, I won't even bother to have a look at this but the internet has its power to convince people/buyers so I have to justify why I bought this. It was posted in my favorite forum site by a member, selling stuff for a price like in a garage sale. I got this set for 150 pesos or approx 3.52 USD, quite cheap so I gave it a try.

Okay, I think that's enough for a Mega Bloks review.

'Til next time. I have more to share so wait and see :)

Yeaaaaah! After so many many many months of being a "work-in-progress," finally, I can now say it is done LOL!

To avoid any unwanted happenings especially to the car and also to protect the paint, I placed it in an acrylic case.

DCPH 8th Anniversary Swapmeet 2012

Finally a Swapmeet near my place! :)

8th year anniversary of our club held in SM Southmall, Las Pinas yesterday, May 06, 2012. It's just a 30-minute ride from my house and considering the fare cost, it is really a great advantage for us "south people" LOL! Not to be selfish but, I hope there'll be more Swapmeets on this part of the metro haha.

Here are some photos taken from the event:

History of diecast.

Porsches!

More diecast...

And more people...

Trophies for the outstanding members of our club. I wonder if there will be a chance that my name will be written on one of them?

The awardees :)

Though I did not bag a trophy, I got myself a reward for...... being present in the Swapmeet :D

Courtesy of a DCPH member in U.S., Mr. Leo a.k.a. cocacolacars.

Taddaaaah! A Matchbox Texaco Ford pickup truck (Joe's Roadside Service). The scale is approximately 1:32.

With Certificate of Authenticity.

Fair details. One thing that frustrates me about is the plastic tires. In the picture I thought it's rubber until I got the actual item.

Another thing is those equipment that aren't painted. I will be tempted to just paint them myself :)

The price is very reasonable for the fact that it is a larger scale and I bet this is not easy to find ;)

This is just one of the hauls I ordered online. I'm still in the process of paying them LOL!

Oh btw, I finally bought new batteries for my camera yahoooo! :) I intended it for this event. And now I can take pictures with a smile ^________^

Thanks for looking.

Happy hunting everyone ;)
